Carpenter and a Litugical Art Wall HangingMany artists exhibiting at Interfibers collaborate with other local artists--- creating a unique array of mix-media artwork. Wendy Carpenter designs large 3D woven wall hangings in a mix textile media consisting of weaving, dyeing, papermaking & basketry. Her work expresses a connection with nature through form, color and tactile material. She has designed fiber wall sculpture and operated Interfibers Design Gallery for 29 years. Wendy’s client-commissioned work provides a unique and personal opportunity for individual custom designed artwork. Wendy studied contemporary fiber wall sculptural in Olympia, WA, tapestry weaving in Taos, New Mexico, and completed her BA through the University of Wisconsin, studying with paper artist Karon Winzenz. Her last teaching contract was with the University of San Miguel de Allende, Mx., instructing fiber art sculpture to Master degree seeking students. She received a grant to study liturgical fiber art and has since been commission by several churches. Currently Wendy is studying textile arts and jadeite stone work in Central America. She designs stunning jadeite stones for her classic jewelry collection. For the past 7 years Wendy has had the opportunity to study and produce artwork in different countries throughout Central America. These unusual collaborations, relating to her travels, fill the gallery with inspiration and color!
