This tapestry weaving workshop specializes in designing
3-dimensional fiber wall sculpture on a metal
frame. The class focus is to express a personal
spiritual emotion through form and color.
Wendy Carpenter will be teaching students how to blend
colors and work with different tapestry, coiling and
twisting techniques. The class will work on design
elements such as color, material and compositional form.
Students will work with a paper design that is often cut
apart, colored and used to preview the work in progress.
Interesting frames can be found in old barns, scrap
metal yards, or personally fabricated. Wendy will have
simple steel frames for people needing frames.
It is
her hope that this class will provide a vehicle for
students to experiment with creating art on an intuitive
level. When we create artwork on an intuitive level we
are unconsciously learning who we are in the very
process of allowing ourselves to let go and play…just as
we did when we were children. Magical art arises from
collectively engaging the body, mind and spirit.
