My "Indigo Girl Skirt" has six Jaspe' woven pleats that are hand weaved by the Mayan weavers of Guatemala through a mission project. It is a cotton skirt with a flared pleated bottom that compliments the fitted hip high upper. It is a knee length skirt with a hip waistline fit, back zipper, and nylon lining.
Size medium (30" low waistline) and large (31" low waistline).
“Creating Revenue through the Arts” by Wendy Carpenter.
For 11 year I have been traveling to Guatemala and working with the Mayan weavers to collaborate talents and to give support to the indigenous weavers of Guatemala. I design jackets, coats, and vests with the hand weaved Mayan Jaspe' fabric. My work is a fair trade project that provides a specialized skill and higher standard of living for the indigenous families, and the Mayan community as a whole!
