The fine art of fiber wall sculptures & tapestries by Wendy Carpenter are handwoven in an impressionist art style through personal borderline abstract-literal interpretations. Carpenter's fiber art wall hangings capture the emotion and power of nature by abstracting the natural world.
"Dynasty Chairs fiber wall-hangings are part of a series entitled "Book of Changes." The I Ching, also known as Book of Changes, is the oldest of the Chinese classics, possessing a history of more than two and a half millennia of commentary and interpretation.
The Book of Changes is an influential text read throughout the world, inspiring the worlds of religion, psychoanalysis, literature, and art. The interpretation of the readings found in the Book of Changes is a matter of centuries of debate. Many commentators have used the book symbolically to guide moral decision-making as informed by Taoism and Confucianism.
My chair fabric is handwoven flat with authentic Chinese silk purchased in China. It measures 4-feet by 3-feet as a set. Although the fabric was woven flat, it appears 3-dimensional through the construction and placement of the material.
