Exclusive gifts in Door County, soulful pieces for every occasion.
Wendy Carpenter's "Creating Revenue through the Arts" fair trade/skill-building project helps the indigenous communities of Guatemala sustain their traditional heritage, create revenue, and acquire new skills! She teaches the Mayan weavers of Guatemala how to design patterns and sew contemporary apparel with their traditional handwoven fabrics!
The apparel and jadeite jewelry necklaces featured are created through her mission project, and the proceeds directly support the artisans of Guatemala! The necklace designs are beaded with hand-cut & polished jadeite beads. To the Pre-Columbian people of Mesoamerica, jadeite represented breath, life, fertility, and power.
The featured necklace has 19 jadeite teardrop beads. Each jadeite bead measures 1" long by 1/4" wide, combined with 52 coral beads. The necklace measures 24" long with a handcrafted sterling silver book-clasp.
